No matter if you are a resident of Surfside Beach, SC or you own a rental property in the area, knowing a professional HVAC contractor is a must. Swift Services has a team of professional Surfside Beach air conditioning and heating contractors you can trust with any HVAC related issues. If you experience any problems with your air conditioning unit, contact Swift Services Heating, Cooling & Electrical at 843-236-9060 or send us a message.

Apart from assisting our customers with heating and cooling system repairs we can also help you with getting your home more energy efficient and/or improve the quality of the air inside your home. Many homeowners underestimate the importance of air quality inside their households. Unfortunately, poor air quality can lead to many illnesses and a variety of health problems. Do you suffer from constant headaches? Are you tired often? Do you and your family experience frequent colds throughout the year? If the answer is yes there might be a problem with air quality in your house.

Poor air quality in your home not only affects your health but it can also cause mold growth, unpleasant smells and an elevated level of humidity inside. If you observe any of these issues you should contact a professional Surfside Beach air conditioning and heating contractor immediately.

Surfside Beach Air Conditioning and Heating System Maintenance

One of the best ways to assure the air inside your house is healthy and clean is by utilizing professional HVAC system maintenance. Many homeowners fail to maintain their air conditioning systems and call our team at Swift Services when a component breaks or doesn't operate as it should.

When you schedule system maintenance our Surfside Beach air conditioning heating contractors will conduct a thorough inspection of the HVAC system. The inspection includes checking for any leaks, such as water leaks which may cause mold, or a refrigerant leak which is dangerous and may damage the whole system. During the checkup a technician also looks for any broken, and/or dirty elements, which may affect the humidity level inside your house leading to poor air quality. Last but not least, during the maintenance call, a technician changes the air filter (if necessary) to a HEPA filter which is designed to improve the air quality inside your home.

Air Conditioning System Maintenance - What You Can Do

You don't always need to call a professional Surfside Beach air conditioning heating contractor to assist you with your HVAC system. There are many things a homeowner can do to keep the air in their house safe and clean.

Clean Up

Surfside Beach Air Conditioning and Heating

You may hate cleaning up but it is really important to regularly clean up your home to keep you and your family safe. Dust and other particles love to settle everywhere especially in difficult to reach places. You should vacuum the floors and areas around furniture, such as under couches and behind dressers, at least twice a month. High traffic areas, such as a hallway, should be vacuumed several times during the week. Don't forget to empty your vacuum cleaner after you're done to make sure it works efficiently!

Improve Ventilation

Quite often a homeowner can improve the air quality indoors by controlling the source of pollution inside. Activities such as painting, paint stripping or cooking can add a lot of pollutants into the air. Opening windows and doors while engaged in any of the activities above can push a lot of these contaminants outside and bring the fresh air into the house. Unless, of course, you live in a highly polluted area then you may consider different whole-house ventilation system options.

Stop smoking

Smoking is a well-known cause of illnesses and death, and it is also one of the worst pollutants when it comes to indoor air quality. By smoking inside your house you not only damage your own health but you put everyone else who lives with you at risk. Studies prove that secondhand smoke can cause asthma, ear infection and cancer in children, to name a few. Therefore, if you can't kick the habit, at least go outside before you light that cigarette.

Control Humidity

Living in South Carolina we know all about outdoor humidity and suffer through it every year especially during the summer months. However, a homeowner can control the humidity inside their homes. High levels of indoor humidity attract the growth of mold and the presence of dust mites.

The humidity level inside your house should be between 30 and 50 percent. You can purchase a special moisture gauge to check the levels of humidity. If the level is too high and it's not summer you should open the windows and let in some cool breeze. If it's hot outside close all your windows and doors and lower the temperature on your air conditioner. You can also buy a vaporizer or a humidifier to add more moisture to the air when necessary, especially during cold weather months.

If you have any questions about indoor air quality or HVAC system maintenance, contact Swift Services, your local Surfside Beach air conditioning and heating contractors. We will get back to you within 24 hours! Give us a call at 843-236-9060 or send us a message.

Good Technician --- but bad pricing

Review of Swift Services Heating & Cooling

Clay is top notch and knowledgeable technician and goes out of the way to help the customer. I give Clay 5 stars !!!! But the problem arose that we were quoted $850.00 to replace our motor and when they go and pick up the part from carrier, the price was now $2400.00. So there was disconnect between carrier and Swift some where. We did not spend this kind of money for a motor , we got a 2nd opinion and that motor with installation was closer to the quoted $850 and way less then the $2400. I appreciate that Swift allowed us to continue to use the portable ac until our ac if fixed.

Response from Swift Services Heating & Cooling:

Hi Ron, I am glad to hear you received 5-star service but sorry to hear that the part was misquoted from the technician. I will bring this to the General Managers attention so he can work with the staff on providing accurate quotes to prevent this from happening again. Thanks!

Arrived at clients home because the lines are freezing up. Through out my search I found the blower not running due to a failed capacitor. Replaced blower capacitor (7.5 mfd) and unit started to function like normal. Verified refrigerant levels were where they needed to be in which they were. Unit is running off (r22) which is an older style refrigerant that is no longer made and expensive to replace. Coils does have a large amount of rust where refrigerant tends to leak once the rust gets worst. Advised client to prepare to replace unit due to age and amount of rust shown.

Tested pan safety switches and it is working the way that i should. Air going in vs going out is (54 degrees and 74 degrees) which the Td is 20. Client will change filters later. Drain is draining great. Tested 45/10 dual run capacitor:(40/8.17). Checked refrigerant levels and they are where they need to be. All wires are tight and in good shape. Seasonal maintenance was performed to ensure safe and proper operation of the HVAC system. Testing was conducted in the cool mode based off of the outdoor temperature while also testing the electronic heat kit to prepare for winter. In addition to a typical cleaning and check of the equipment the homeowner received a letter from their reality company citing a power outage occurrence. The reality company advised that the system be inspected to confirm that no damage took place. After my evaluation the system is functioning properly and is ready to either heat or cool the condo. I turned the thermostat back to the temperature it was set at when I arrived, I also changed the batteries for the thermostat, and locked up the property when I was done. Maintenance data gathered is as follows: Inspected and replaced (16x20) return air filter: Homeowner had a new filter in the closet where the air handler is located, Delta T: -16°f (Temperature drop across the evaporator), Applied coil spray

An estimated was provided to add an additional return air intake for the master bedroom of a home. The existing equipment has an air handler sized at 4 Tons nominally and a heat pump/condensing unit that is 3.5 Tons. Based off of the existing 20x30 intake with 16” flex going to the air handler an additional intake would be appropriate. After a discussion with another technician for pricing we would be able to proceed with this system improvement for $456.00. Materials list: 1.) (20x25) insulated sheet metal box 1.)
